Our improved Innovation Challenge Program! |

 | | We reckon it takes more than a couple of brainstorming sessions to uncover and commercialise new ideas... in fact we know it does.
To really make innovation happen your business needs a program that repeatedly uncovers, develops and implements significant ideas.
That's just what we help our clients do through our Innovation Challenge Program.
The Innovation Challenge is a seven month competition that uncovers substantial ideas and trains teams of employees in building those ideas into successful innovations. Companies that have implemented the Innovation Challenge Program have launched innovations contributing millions of dollars to their bottom line, as well as significant environment and social initiatives.

 | | The Green Paper from Australia's National Innovation Review has been released! We're extremely happy to see that the report emphasises the responsibility of firms to drive innovation in Australia. It also proposes that the 'new' innovation system should focus on equiping businesses with the skills and capabilities to innovate. All good stuff.
What we're not so happy about is the absense of any tangible initiatives to help businesses get better at innovation. Most businesses understand why innovation is a good thing... what they lack are the skills to harvest, develop and implement great ideas. The Green Paper addresses this issue at an extremely high level. It provides little new thinking about how to get more Australian businesses innovating, let alone propose concrete strategies for building capability.
Guess it's up to (re)innovate challenge to address those issues :-) |

Will National Innovation Review address Business Innovation? |
 | | No doubt most people are already well aware of this, but the Federal Government is about to complete a review of the Australian Innovation System. A green paper is due to be released for public comment at the end of September... the big question from our perspective is "will the paper adequately address business / organisational innovation?"
We believe much more needs to be done to encourage innovation in existing businesses, especially those in industries normally regarded as "non-innovative".
Up to now Australian innovation policy has focused heavily on high-technology, R&D intensive industries - despite the fact they only make up a tiny portion of the economy.
Will this focus shift following the review? Guess we've only got a couple of days until we find out! |

 | | The 2007 InnoFuture conference was so good we're throwing our support behind the 2008 event, to be held in Melbourne in September.
We're also big fans of the regular InnoFuture Momentum events, as they're a great way to stay in touch with others in the innovation community. The next Momentum event is on in Melbourne on July 31.
